Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week
It's Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week this week, raising awareness around the condition and what can be done to reduce your risk of developing it.
Most importantly, you can prevent type 2 diabetes by eating a healthy, balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight and keeping physically active. By doing this you'll help to improve your overall health and keep other long-term conditions at bay as well.
Living with diabetes means you face a higher risk of heart disease, stroke, nerve damage, foot problems, vision loss and kidney problems, so we're keen to support everyone to do what they can to avoid developing the condition.
There are some groups at higher risk of type 2 diabetes: men, people of South Asian or Black ethnicity, people who are overweight and people with a family history of type 2 diabetes.
