A weekend to remember for Frimley’s Chief Medical Officer
NHS Frimley is delighted to report that our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Lalitha Iyer, has won the 'Woman of the Year' award at the 21st Asian Achievers Awards and the ‘Health Hero’ Award from the Asian Professionals National Alliance (APNA) NHS, over the course of the weekend 15-16 September 2023.
The Asian Achievers Awards are the UK’s most prominent and longstanding celebration of British Asian achievement across multiple fields.
The awards recognise South Asians in the UK today who have achieved excellence in leadership positions across a range of fields, from politics and business to healthcare.
APNA NHS is a network for senior South Asian leaders to connect, share ideas and support each other. The Health Hero award recognises significant contributions to improve parity of outcomes for diverse communities.
Lalitha said: “I have had a super privileged weekend having been chosen for both the Asian Achievers and the APNA Awards – truly a weekend I won't forget!
“I’m extremely honoured to have won these awards, not only because of the recognition of my heritage, but also because they highlight the great work I and our teams are involved in across the Frimley system, improving the lives of the people we serve.”
Lalitha is a Queen’s Award winner for her longstanding voluntary work with ethnic communities from deprived areas. She is the Executive Lead for tackling health inequalities and cardiovascular disease prevention, reducing heart attacks and strokes, and is both the Senior Responsible Officer for the Frimley maternity system and the ICS women’s health champion.
Lalitha has served as Chief Medical Officer for Frimley ICB since its creation on 1 July 2022, and before that was Medical Director for the Frimley Collaborative of CCGs.
She is pictured here with Safina Nadeem, Executive Lead / Director at Frimley ICS and co-chair of the Frimley ICS Partnership Board, who was recognised by APNA NHS for her Outstanding Contribution to Impactful Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
