“NHS Talking therapies has made me see life in a different way”

Talking therapies allow you to be heard. They give you the opportunity to talk to a fully trained and accredited NHS practitioner about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

It is a free confidential service which can help you to improve your mental wellbeing.

NHS Berkshire Talking Therapies has shared how reaching out to talking therapies has changed some of their patients’ lives:

Diana, who received Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with Talking Therapies Berkshire said:

“Therapy has made me see life in a different way. I never really knew if I could talk to someone it would change the way I thought life was - because I felt like I was alone in this world. But when I shared with my therapist it really made the burden to be less and less heavy on me.”

Marrium explains how therapy helped her overcome her fears of being judged:

"When I went into therapy I thought I was going in to be 'fixed'. I was very very reluctant and if I'm honest I felt a bit embarrassed, I was ashamed.

"...I took the leap of faith because my mum encouraged me to.

"When it comes to mental health there are so many people who don't seek help. Honestly therapy has changed so much for me. It is one of a few very good reasons why I am still here."
