New non-emergency transport provider announced for BOB and Frimley
EMED Group has been selected as the new Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services provider in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire West, and Frimley*.
NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board and Frimley Integrated Care Board have announced that ERS Transition Limited, trading as EMED Group, has been chosen to provide non-emergency patient transport services (NEPTS) for patients. This decision comes after a thorough and competitive procurement process and the new contract provider will take over these services from April 2025.
As part of EMED’s new service, a Patient Flow Function will be introduced to support communications between patients, points of care, other stakeholders and EMED, enabling a better patient and service user experience. This function will include a Hospital Ambulance Liaison Officer six days a week and a Patient Welfare Officer on the busier weekdays. A Community Engagement Health and Wellbeing Officer will also support reach out to local communities.
The current NEPTS contract will expire at midnight on 31st March 2025. At that time, the new provider will assume responsibility for non-emergency patient transport for eligible individuals, with the formal contracts starting on 1st April 2025. All parties are fully committed to engaging with and consulting patients, staff and other key stakeholders to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place before the service changeover date.
