Are you ready for the Easter weekend?

The long Easter Bank Holiday weekend comes at the end of the school holidays.

As well as getting children ready for the new term and stocking up on Easter treats, residents across Frimley Health and Care are urged to plan ahead for any health needs.

With GP practices closed on the public holidays and many pharmacies operating different opening hours to usual, it’s best to be prepared – especially if you might need medication.

The days immediately before and after bank holidays often bring added demand and pressure for NHS services, so patients are advised to familiarise themselves with the many other treatment options, should they feel unwell or suffer an injury.

A medicine cabinet will help in treating many minor ailments at home, so now is the time to visit your pharmacy to make sure your medicine cabinet is well-stocked and each item is up-to-date.

Repeat prescriptions for essential medicines will need to be arranged in plenty of time to avoid running out.

Self-care at home can be used to manage a number of minor health concerns. For more serious and persistent health matters, local pharmacies and NHS111 – online or on the phone – can help, while a minor injury unit or urgent care centre may also be able to support.

For young people, or parents or carers of children, the  Frimley Healthier Together website and app are available, offering advice and support for wide-ranging situations. This can be found at: frimley-healthiertogether.nhs.uk.
