Eating Disorders Awareness Week: ‘Eating Disorders Can Affect Anyone’

This week (24th February - 2nd March) marks Eating Disorders Awareness Week, and the theme is “Eating disorders can affect anyone”.

The campaign highlights that eating disorders can impact anyone, regardless of gender, age, or background. In the UK, at least 1.25 million people are currently living with an eating disorder, a reminder of just how common these mental health conditions are.

It can be a distressing and isolating time for anyone caring for a child who is having problems with eating. Therefore, the Charlie Waller Trust is providing vital support for parents and carers of young people affected by eating disorders. The charity offers a range of free resources to help families understand and manage the challenges of supporting their children’s mental health.

Among the resources available are practical tips for looking after your own well-being, guidance on supporting your child, and a myth-busting webinar led by experienced mental health trainer Ros Rea. The Trust also runs free, evidence-based workshops designed to equip parents and carers with the knowledge and skills needed to help their children.

By offering these invaluable resources, the Charlie Waller Trust plays a key role in raising awareness and providing families with the tools to support those affected by eating disorders.

To find out more about eating disorders, how to spot them and how to support yourself and your child visit the Charlie Waller Trust website.
