World Cancer Day 2025 - How can we support you?

Whilst one in two of us will develop some form of cancer at some point in our lives, on World Cancer Day 2025, we are recognising that each person’s cancer diagnosis and experience is unique. At Frimley Health we understand that cancer is much more than a medical diagnosis; cancer is deeply personal and can affect all aspects of your life. Our teams are committed to providing treatment and care that leads to the best health outcomes, but we also have a cancer information and support service that can help you with the emotional, physical, and practical problems that can arise on a cancer journey.  

Whatever your questions or concerns about cancer - the side effects of treatment, anxiety, diet, exercise, wigs, or money worries – tailored information and support are available in person, over the phone or via email. We have two Macmillan Information and Support Centres located at the main entrances of Frimley Park and Wexham Park hospitals, where you will receive a warm welcome and face-to-face advice from specialist staff and trained volunteers. They will listen to your concerns, share information in a format that works for you and communicate with professionals involved in your care. They can also direct you to local support services, groups and events, including the Citizens Advice Service, Look Good Feel Better workshops and counselling services.

Jess Tutton, Macmillan Information and Support Manager at Frimley Health Foundation Trust says:

“We understand that a cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming and you may be worried about asking for help, but the Frimley Health Macmillan Information and Support team are here for you. Last year we supported over 2500 patients and their families, and this year we want to reach even more. You can just drop in at the Macmillan Centres at Frimley Park or Wexham Park, call on the phone, or send an email. The service is free of charge and you don’t need to make an appointment but it helps us if you are able to call ahead of your visit”.
