Volunteers' Week: 2 to 8 June 2025
Volunteers help to add value and quality to all the work they are involved in, from supporting public services to running much-loved organisations, groups and clubs. They help to provide opportunities to people from all walks of life.
Launched in 1984 and celebrated every year, Volunteers' Week allows everyone to recognise the contributions of volunteers and thank them for the time, passion, kindness, and skills they bring wholeheartedly.
The campaign highlights the diversity of all volunteers across the UK. Volunteers are present in all sectors of our lives, whether in organisations like the NHS or our local community centres. Volunteers are all around us and make a fantastic contribution.
Here are some incredible facts on the remarkable contributions made:
- 2 million people in the UK have formally volunteered at least once a month
- Volunteering added £4.6 billion in productivity gains in the UK economy in 2024
- 25 million people in the UK volunteered informally at least once in the year
This volunteers' week, let us all celebrate the volunteers who contribute to our society.
