Prostate Cancer Awareness Month!

March is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about prostate cancer, the UK’s most common cancer in men.

1 in 8 men will now be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and your risk increase if you’re over 50 or have a family history. Early detection can significantly improve the chances of successful treatment, but many men with early prostate cancer often show now symptoms. That’s why it’s essential to start the conversation about your health and understand your risk. You can check your risk in just 30 seconds on the Prostate Cancer UK website

It is particularly important to raise awareness of the heightened risk for Black men, with 1 in 4 being likely to develop the disease. Black men are also 1.5 times more likely to be diagnosed later and 14% less likely to receive life-saving treatments. This delay in diagnosis and treatment underscores the urgent need for updated healthcare guidelines and increased awareness, especially for those at higher risk.

To support this vital cause, and to help raise awareness, you can take part in Prostate Cancer UKs March the Month challenge. This virtual step challenge encourages participants to walk or wheel 11,000 steps a day throughout March, representing the more than 11,000 fathers, grandfathers, sons, partners and friend’s sons, and brothers who lose their lives to prostate cancer every year.

Encourage someone you know to check their risk today or sign up for March the Month and join thousands of people across the country in raising funds for life-saving research, while staying active and supporting those impacted by prostate cancer.
