Ask Your Pharmacist Week

As the common coughs and colds of autumn start to circulate, #AskYourPharmacist week (3- 10 November) provides the perfect opportunity to get to know the NHS services offered closer to your home by your local community pharmacy ahead of needing them this winter.

With no appointment needed, a professional team and a private consultation room should you require it, community pharmacies are on hand to provide advice, guidance and if required supply medications for a number of common illnesses and ailments this winter.

Millions visit their local pharmacy for blood pressure checks (those over 40yr with no current diagnosis of high blood pressure), contraception, vaccinations, cold symptoms, sore throats, and minor illnesses.

Your local pharmacy is part of the wider NHS. Pharmacists train for five years, studying the human body and medicines with many going on to specialise their knowledge in certain conditions such as Asthma or Diabetes, and they will continue to undertake professional development training in order to offer their local population the best care possible.

If you have visited a pharmacy within the last three months for a minor illness or a common condition, please take 5 minutes to complete this short survey. We would love to hear about your pharmacy experience. The survey is anonymous, and we do not ask for any personal details.

So, this #AskYourPharmacist week, why not visit your local pharmacy and enquire about the services they offer and if you’re starting to feel unwell, don’t let your symptoms get worse, pop in for advice and guidance.
