This page will be used to share resources from recognised organisations and agencies to support your work in increasing or maintaining people's physical activity levels.

NHS England has a range of physical activity guidance for different age groups, as well as suggestions and ideas, on its website: www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/

Moving Healthcare Professionals is a national programme, led by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities and Sport England, to support healthcare professionals to increase their knowledge and skills, and incorporate physical activity within routine care to support quality improvement and better patient outcomes.

Swim England have worked with NHS England to develop a 20 minute elearning module on ‘Aquatic Activity and Swimming for Health’: www.e-lfh.org.uk/programmes/aquatic-activity-and-swimming-for-health/ which is aimed at improving healthcare professional understanding of the benefits of aquatic activity.

This toolkit (www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789240076648) provides evidence-based guidance on the key approaches to promote and enable older people to be physically active, regardless of who they are, where they live, or their intrinsic capacities (for example their visual or cognitive abilities) or whether they live with chronic conditions (for example, diabetes, hypertension, and arthritis). It is designed to support all countries at national and subnational levels (particularly low- and middle-income countries with limited resources) to ensure that environments and settings support older people to be active, and that they provide physical activity services and programmes tailored to the needs, preferences and goals of all older people.
