The Mirror Board
As part of our drive to develop a pipeline of diverse future leaders across Frimley Health and Care, we and our partners across the system are launching a Mirror Board to have real influence and bring different perspectives to the decision making of Frimley Health and Care System.
What is the Mirror Board?
The Mirror Board has been recruited to reflect the views and perspectives of a diverse group of people from across Frimley Health and Care and to directly inform the discussions of the NHS Frimley Board.
You can find out more about the Board here NHS Frimley – NHS Frimley Board (icb.nhs.uk):
The objectives of the Mirror Board are to:
- develop talent for the future.
- increase representation from protected characteristic groups at Board level.
- promote collaborative working across organisations.
- encourage diversity of thought in decision making.
- support the delivery of Frimley Health and Care’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) strategic ambitions.
*The Frimley ICS EDI ambitions, 1) senior leadership development 2) diverse teams 3) building inclusive cultures and 4) anti-racist System.
Mirror Board discussions are a real opportunity to inform NHS Frimley Board decision making and influence developments across Frimley Health and Care. Key points will be shared with the NHS Frimley Board before they have their discussions, so it will be a real opportunity to inform Board decision making. Topics could include implementing the Frimley Health and Care Strategy (read more here), core Board functions of overseeing system finance, governance and risk and ensuring that the System delivers its strategy.
We invited expressions of interest from people across local authority, voluntary sector, social care, NHS and primary care, who are committed to getting involved as part of their development journey. We wanted to attract individuals keen to bring different perspectives to Board discussions and tackle some of the problems the System faces.
As part of this 18-month programme Mirror Board members were offered:
- A reciprocal mentoring relationship with an NHS Frimley Board member (RM)
- A joint Cultural Intelligence (CQ) development package with the NHS Frimley Board
- Short learning sessions on key aspects of Board business such as risk and system finance
- support to develop their skills in short sessions on emotional intelligence and supportive challenge etc.
How the Mirror Board will work
The term of office for mirror board members is 18 months The Mirror Board convenes every other month for between 2.5 and 3 hours. Mirror Board members are asked to commit to attending these and to prepare by reading papers or having a discussion with a topic lead.
