Stakeholder and Community Engagement
The publication of the Lord Darzi review, Grenfell recommendations, and work towards a new 10 year plan for the NHS, have all provide an opportunity to open up a listening and engagement programme to hear from local communities, staff and stakeholders.
In November 2024, we launched the Reconnect, Reset, Rebuild engagement to encourage a deeper understanding of our local communities, identify what matters to them about their health, care, and wellbeing to shape future priorities together.
The conversations identified priorities, explored new opportunities, and built on previous engagement efforts, emphasising collaboration with individuals, professionals, and local organisations.

We are pleased to be able to share the initial insight and outputs from the 'reconnect' phase of this work. This includes a summary of the insights gathered from stakeholders - with a focus on shifting power, future priorities and clear messages for system leaders. We also reflected on the outputs of the Darzi Review and the governments engagement on the 10 year plan and 'three shifts'.
You will also find a summary of themes and insights linked to the work carried out in communities across the Frimley Health and Care System and some cases studies that highlight the variety of work that took place. How people were able to get involved
16 dynamic workshops were organised to bring together staff and partners working across organisations from across our Integrated Care System.
190 individuals actively contributed bringing together diverse insights and perspectives, as well as demonstrating a strong collective commitment to shaping the future of health and care.
This has included NHS Frimley staff from numerous departments, local authority and county council colleagues, representatives of our councils of voluntary services, those from local charities supporting people at the end of life, with their mental health or back into employment, local fire department, colleagues from various trusts, providers and from the ambulance service.
The Leadership Connections fostered a two-way engagement between system leaders and local communities, ensuring that leaders remain connected to the community and incorporate these insights into future decision-making processes
Attendees at the system workshops left the sessions as a Connector:
"A connector is someone who listens and bridges gaps, linking voices across communities and organisations. They play an essential role in understanding diverse needs and translating them into meaningful action."
We put together a guide to support authentic engagement to ensure that local voices shape our future direction.
The Community Engagement Fund was introduced so that VCSE organisations were able to apply for small amounts of funding or support to carry out community engagement and listening activities. The application process was streamlined to make it simple and straightforward to apply so that community engagement activity could be carried out quickly allowing insight to feed into the national government consultation where possible.
The Community Engagement Fund awarded 20 organisations with funding to support local conversations about the future of health and care services. All of these organisations are taking part in our ‘Reconnect, Reset, Rebuild’ listening exercise to enhance the voices of local communities. Between them they have over 1000 people.
