Community Panel

Want to share your views on local health and care services?

At Frimley Health and Care, it is essential that residents, patients and staff have an opportunity to shape plans and that those working on transformation programmes have an understanding of what people feel is important.

Our Community Panel is a vital part of this work – a growing group of local people and communities who share their thoughts and experiences to help us improve the way services are designed and delivered.

The online panel is designed to help us gather the views of local people, test our assumptions and theories and keep people updated about local health and care services.

This will help us to understand the needs of our local communities - what is working well for people and what the challenges are.

We're always looking for more people to get involved. If you live in the area (Ascot, Bracknell, Farnham, Maidenhead, North East Hampshire, Slough, Surrey Heath and Windsor) and care about local health and care services, we’d love for you to join us and have your voice heard.

How does it work and why should I sign up?

You will be helping to improve health and care outcomes for people all across Frimley Health and Care. You will also find out about new plans, including service changes and ideas related to health and care.

Joining the panel will means we will share regular news and updates as well as engagement opportunities such as surveys.

We will work with system leaders, staff teams and voluntary sector organisations to establish the priority areas that would be most helpful to gain the views of the panel members.

The results of these surveys will be shared with participants and published online. They will also be shared with relevant teams across the system to help them to shape their plans.

We may also contact you to take part in in local discussions, forums or focus groups if this is something that you would like to do.

All participation is voluntary and you can opt out of the panel at any time.

What we have heard from our panel

In September 2023, we refreshed our Online Community Panel.

Below are the responses to the surveys our panel have participated in.

The survey ran from 29 September - 10 November 2023. We had a total of 190 responses.

This survey was designed to help us better understand:

  • how aware people are of the flu vaccination
  • eligibility criteria for free vaccinations via the NHS
  • likelihood of receiving a vaccination this year
  • views and feedback on why people feel the vaccine is important and any reservations that people have about receiving it

The results of the survey have been shared with the teams responsible for developing the vaccination programme in Frimley.

You can access the survey results here.

The survey ran from November - December 2023. There was a total of 104 responses.

This survey was designed to help us better understand:

  • if people know what their blood pressure readings are
  • how often people check their blood pressure, and if they don’t check why
  • if people know the causes of high blood pressure
  • where people get their information  on blood pressure from

The survey ran from 31 January - 1 March 2024. There was a total of 117 responses.

This survey was designed to understand how impactful our messages were and enable us to develop our approach in order for our work to be as impactful as possible in the future.

The survey contained five examples of our campaign materials.

The results will be shared with the communications and engagement team as well as the winter delivery group.

The survey ran from 3 April 10 May 2024. There was a total of 210 responses.

This survey was designed to hear people’s views on cancer screening and to understand the barriers and fears to taking part in the screening offer.

The survey included questions on the three national cancer screening programmes in England; Cervical screening, Breast screening and Bowel screening and locally delivered and targeted pilots, for Lung screening and Prostate screening.

The results will be shared with the communications and engagement team, staff members and teams involved in cancer care planning, as well as the Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance, an organisation leading the transformation and improvement of cancer care and services across our local health and social care system.

The survey ran from 4 July to 1 August 2024. There was a total of 111 responses.

We ran this survey to better understand from our residents how much they know about the Frimley ICS, how they would like to hear from us and what information they would like to know.

The survey asked about awareness of our social media channels and websites as well as preference on different forms of communication.

The results will be shared with the communications and engagement team to help impact future communications.

The survey ran from 13 September to 11 October 2024. There was a total of 87 responses.

Our previous survey highlighted that many of our community panel members would like to have better access to information on understanding and managing long-term conditions.

In order for us to provide them with this information, we needed to better understand what information they already have, what are the gaps, and what information they would find helpful as well as how they would like us to communicate it to them.

The answers to this survey will provide us with this insight.

The results will be shared with the communications and engagement team to help impact future communications as well as the relevant long term condition clinical teams.

The survey ran from 3 February to 3 March 2025. There was a total of 103 responses.

Over the past couple of months NHS Frimley has embarked on a large scale listening exercise, reaching out to stakeholders and communities across the area to help Reconnect, Reset and Rebuild our priorities and focus together. The recent Darzi review, Grenfell recommendations, and work towards a new 10 year plan for the NHS, all provide an opportunity to open up a new conversation that can encourage a deeper understanding of our local communities, identify what matters to them as well as new opportunities and aspirations for existing assets. The way people live their lives has a profound effect on health outcomes.

We ran this survey to hear from you, our resident, and gather your thoughts on health, care and wellbeing to help shape it's future.

We have tried to pick out the top themes amongst the answers for each question.

The results will be shared with the communications and engagement team to help impact future communications.
